What age can a child start learning tennis?

What do I need to wear and bring to coaching?

Accepted Answer

Please wear cool and comfortable clothing which allows you to move freely. Tennis shoes are preferred, but flat soled runners are acceptable. In hot weather hats, sunscreen, sunglasses and a water bottle are strongly recommended. All other equipment is supplied.

Does my child require their own racquet for coaching?

No, we have loan racquets available for your child to use during the lesson. While it is always recommended to have your own racquet for coaching, it is important that it is the right size and weight for your child. Our coaches are happy to assist you with this.

Question 4

How long does it take my child to move up a stage/group?

Accepted Answer

Generally it will take your child anywhere between 12-18 months to progress and complete an individual stage. This depends on the amount of lessons per week your child has, their ability and also their age.

Can I purchase a racquet through PTTA?

Yes, we have a large range of racquets available, starting at a purchase price of $25. Please check out the racquet sales tab in our Other PTTA services like our re-stringing or racquet sales.

Can I enrol after the term has started?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can enrol once the term has started. The fee will be calculated on a pro rata basis. We cannot guarantee your preferred day and time will be available once the term has commenced.

What happens if it is raining on the day of my lesson?

We rarely cancel lessons so always assume the lesson is going ahead. In the unlikely event the lesson has to be cancelled due to a wash out, or an unforeseen event, then you will be notified via text message at least 30 minutes prior to your lesson. You do not need to contact us. For further information please visit our policies.

How do you make-up a lesson?

All lessons cancelled will be made up before the end of the term. We allow 1 or 2 spare weeks prior to the school holidays to cover any cancellations due to weather conditions or unforeseen events thereby ensuring all lessons are delivered.

If I miss a group lesson throughout the term can I get a make-up lesson?

We require 24 hours notice of an intended absence. Failure to do this means the lesson is forfeited.

Can I get a refund if I miss a group lesson?

No, we have held that spot for you and you will understand that our costs remain the same whether you attend or not.

Do I need to re-enrol each term?

Accepted Answer

Participants currently enrolled are automatically re-enrolled for the following term, unless we have been advised at least 7 days prior to the new term that they are not returning. However, enrolment is not secured until payment has been made by the due date.

Yes, all children may progress to playing competitive tennis. We offer a range of lessons and our coaches are readily available to advise on the development of your children’s game.
